At Ala Costa our mission is to:

  • Empower school-aged children with developmental disabilities to find, use and express their unique strengths and talents.
  • Provide each child at Ala Costa with the skills and opportunities they need to become successful and productive members of society, and to encourage them to have some fun along the way.
  • Offer support and guidance to families who face the financial and emotional challenges of raising a child with developmental disabilities.

Ala Costa's 2008 Mardi Gras

Ala Costa's 2008 Mardi gras was a fun event. On February 9th more than 225 people attended the event at the Crow Canyon Country Club in Danville. The guest participated in a silent and live auction where they were able to get great deals on some cool stuff. A sit down dinner and "Games of chance" were new for this year's event. Dancing and the martini bar always added to a fun evening. Special presentations were presented to this year's Ala Costa's Teacher of the Year, Margie Bennett; Ala Costa Mardi gras King and Queen, Dennis and Deborah Richmond; and this year's 2008 Humanitarians, Joe and Donna Rodrigues. Mayor Janet Lockhart of Dublin presented a city of Dublin Proclaimation to Joe and Donna Rodrigues for their support to Ala Costa and Dublin's citizens. Congratulations to this year's honored people and thank you for being a BIG part of Ala Costa. We appreciate all the you do.

The Oakland location (facility # 013416697) has been in operation since 2000 and serves over 45 students with developmental disabilities
